27th Annual Tri-State on the River Update

October 2011 Tri-State on the River Update
The September 27-29th 2011 Tri-State conference is over. We do not have the final count of attendees but it was 1,242 as of Wednesday morning of the second day of the conference. This number will be close to last year. The number does not include guests and exhibitors.
From what people said to us, emailed and wrote on speaker comment cards, the program was a very good one. Thanks to our own Jake Jacobson and his co-chair Tim Page and all the people that made the conference work. From the band on Monday evening to the end, Thursday afternoon, it ran smooth. Well, that is, after a little trash can fire closed down three classes at Whiskey Pete’s on Tuesday afternoon. The great part was that everyone took it in stride and the attendees moved into other sessions. This was not an easy task since the classrooms were close to full to begin with.
It is with both excitement and some regret that we voted to leave Primm after the 2012 conference. We will be doing at least 2013 and 2014 at the Southpoint-Further-from–the-River. We will miss the homey atmosphere and some of the people that have served us well over the last 7 years in Primm. They were never able to offer us all the advantages of a big hotel but they certainly worked hard. The possibilities for growth are much greater there at the Southpoint. We hope to see less cramped classrooms and a lot more exhibitors since we had a waiting list of 40 exhibitors and many did not even bother getting on the list. It is quite possible that we will have 75 more booths the first year. The hard part is that even with the choices we had, the conference will have a difficult time fitting into the choices we had
Tri-State is on Facebook now. There are pictures from the conference, information and a chance to comment!
The next Tri-State conference will be held one more time in Primm onTuesday-Thursday, Sept 25-27, 2012. In 2013 it will be held at the Southpoint tentatively Tuesday-Thursday, Sept 24-26.
