President's Preamble
Dear Fellow NWEA Members,
I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and is enjoying the cooler Fall weather.
There are many interesting and exciting things going on with NWEA and here are just a few of them:
Tri-State on the River 2011 was Another Success!
Tri-State on the River was another success in 2011 and there were more than 1,200 people in attendance! The Tri-state Committee did a fantastic job putting on an informative program and developing great networking opportunities. Bruce Dacko’s term as the Tri-State Committee Chair ends in December. A big thank you goes out to Bruce and all the folks in NWEA that worked on this making this event such a success.
NWEA Newsletter – New Publications Coordinator
I would like to take the opportunity to thank Rob Davies and Brown & Caldwell for their efforts over the past decade for preparing the NWEA Newsletter. Thank you for all the time you have spent keeping the NWEA membership informed!
NWEA’s new Publications Coordinator is Stephanie Stallsmith with HDR. Stephanie and her team at HDR are hitting the ground running, so please feel free to contact her if you have articles to be published in future editions of the online newsletter.
Association of Boards of Certification
John Solvie attended a WEF Certification summit, which was comprised of a small yet diverse group from across the US and Canada. In our July meeting, John provided information about the summit, which included topics such as:
- Strategies for Sustainable Certification
- National Model for Minimum Standards of Operator Certification
- Nationally Recognized Professional Designation
WEF will be reporting the summit findings in the coming months. Stay tuned to find out more information at upcoming NWEA meetings!
Training Sessions
The operator training calendar on the NWEA website has been updated to include planned training sessions. In addition, the Technical and Professional Development Committee are organizing workshops to provide additional opportunities for the membership to acquire PDHs that may be needed for certification and license renewals.
Please stay safe, enjoy the newsletter, and I look forward to seeing you at the next NWEA meeting!
Sincerely,
Angela MacKinnon
President
