Tri-State on the River Review

The annual Tri-State On-The-River conference was held September 28th – 30th in Primm, Nevada. The conference had about 1380 regular attendees and 211 exhibit booths sold (181 inside and 30 outside). Both the number of attendees and booths were an increase from last year. Given that fewer agencies are sending fewer people, having an increase in attendees was a positive sign of the support for the conference. The increase in exhibitors was due to us having being given additional outside space this year. This was a great change since we continue to have to turn down exhibitors every year.
Scanning went well and changes in room assignments both made for a better flow of people getting in and out of rooms. Jake Johnson and Tim Page-Botoff put on a great program. The speakers were top notch. There were two new events they added to the conference this year. The first was specialty course, a certification course for trenchless pipe rehabilitation inspection. The second was a milling and plating class followed by an actual demonstration with the equipment chewing up a section of the Whiskey Pete parking lot (thanks to Marcellus Jones for putting that together).
Look for more specialty classes in the future and the call for papers for 2011 will be coming out soon!
