Does Nevada accept reciprocity?
The State of Nevada uses the ABC Certification Exam Equivalency Chart to grant reciprocity from states. If your state is on the list then we can accept reciprocity. If your state is not listed we cannot accept reciprocity.
In addition to the exam equivalency you must also meet the following requirements.
- Grade I: 1 year FTE
- Grade II: 2 years FTE
- Grade III: 3 years FTE
- Grade IV: 4 years FTE
Your certificate must be current and in good standing from the state that you are applying from. You must also have taken and passed a written examination for every grade level, up to and including, the grade level that you are applying for. A copy of each certificate must be submitted.
Submit documentation of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit documentation of 6 CEUs that are related to the type of certification that you are applying for.
How do I apply for reciprocity?
Complete one of the linked applications. You may attach additional documentation if necessary (ie: resume). Enclose all required documentation (Certificate/s from the state that you are applying from for each grade level, copy of high school diploma/equivalent, documentation of CEUs). Check or money order made out to NWEA in the amount of $75.00.
How do I apply to take a computerized exam?
When applying to take a computerized exam you must complete the exam application form that you are applying to take. In addition, you must also complete the Computerized Exam Application Form. The exam applications can be found on the website under applications.
To take the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator computerized exam, complete the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator and the Computerized Exam Applications and mail them to NDEP with a check or money order in the amount of $60. The address is listed on the second page of the Wastewater application.
To take any of the voluntary program certification computerized exams please complete the applicable exam application and the Computerized Exam Application and mail them to NWEA with a check or money order for $150.
Once your exam applications have been reviewed and approved you will receive an exam approval letter. The exam approval letter will provide:
- The contact information for the testing service AMP.
- Your identification number.
- Instructions for applying to take the exam.
- You will be assigned a 90 day range of dates. You can schedule your exam any time during the 90 day period.

Please note that when you contact AMP to schedule your exam you will be asked to pay and additional fee of $70 directly to them with a credit card. This fee covers AMP’s administration costs.
